Janhvi Kapoor: AI Chuttamalle Video Borders on Sexual Assault

A manipulated clip of Chuttamalle that uses AI to place Janhvi Kapoor in sexually explicit imagery has drawn an unflinching response from the actor. She described the video as ‘deeply violating, bordering on sexual assault’ in an Instagram note, and made clear that the issue is bigger than one offensive edit: it is about how women’s boundaries are treated online and offline.

What the altered video does

The clip takes Janhvi Kapoor’s appearance from the original song and inserts her into fictionalised explicit content that was never part of Devara: Part 1, which released on September 27, 2024. Instead of brushing it off as another internet attack, she framed it as a consent violation.

‘The criminal misuse of technology to objectify women… is deeply violating, bordering on sexual assault,’ she wrote, adding that a woman’s clothing, past choices or a previous yes never give anyone permission to exploit her body.

Jr NTR promises legal action

Her Devara co-star Jr NTR had already condemned the clip, calling it ‘disgusting, sick and shameless’ and saying he will take every possible legal action against those who created and spread it. He also asked fans not to watch, share or engage with the video.

Janhvi thanked him for taking a stand, writing that when someone with his reach speaks up about something that does not directly concern him, ‘it makes a difference to every woman who has experienced some degree of this behaviour.’

Why this moment matters

AI-generated explicit imagery has become a recurring threat for public figures, and women in entertainment are frequently the first targets. A manipulated clip moves at the speed of a share, and every repost deepens the harm.

Both actors are asking fans and platforms to respond differently:

  • Do not watch, share or engage with the manipulated clip. Attention is what spreads it.
  • Report the video wherever you see it, so platforms can take it down faster.
  • Treat consent as non-negotiable. A yes one day never cancels a no on another.

What fans can do next

Jr NTR has said he will not spare anyone behind the video, and wants strict regulations against AI misuse. For fans, the simplest and most important response is to deny the clip reach: don’t turn someone else’s violation into your content.
