Ramayana set fire declared Level-I; no injuries reported
A Monday fire on the temporary Ramayana set in Mumbai's Film City was put out by 4:55 pm with no injuries; nearby shoots were disrupted.

A fire broke out on Monday afternoon on a temporary set for Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana at Mumbai’s Film City, sending thick smoke over the Goregaon East facility and bringing a quick emergency response. The Mumbai Fire Brigade confirmed that no one was injured.
What caught fire
The blaze was reported at 4:02 pm behind Reliance Media Works and Prime Focus in Film City, Goregaon East. Officials classified it as a Level-I fire.
The fire stayed contained to a 100×20-foot temporary PCR unit behind Prime Focus Studio. According to the fire brigade, it involved electric wiring, cables, fittings, doors, wooden planks, AC units, bamboo, plastic items, sound systems and shooting equipment.
How the response unfolded
Fire brigade teams, police, BMC ward control staff and a 108 ambulance service reached the spot. By 4:55 pm, the fire was out and officials confirmed there were no injuries.
- Reported: 4:02 pm, Monday, 5 October 2026
- Location: behind Prime Focus Studio, Film City, Goregaon East
- Classification: Level-I fire
- Extinguished: 4:55 pm
- Casualties: none
Other shoots in the line of smoke
The disruption was not limited to Ramayana. MTV’s Hustle 5 and Patni Patni Aur Panga 2 were filming in nearby studios and their shoots were disturbed. Early reports suggest the fire began on the Patni Patni Aur Panga 2 set and then moved towards the Hustle 5 set, though there is no official word yet on how badly either set has been damaged.
That matters because shared backlots mean one wiring fire can stall several call sheets in a single afternoon. Social media videos of the plume spread worry even faster than the fire itself.
Ramayana’s road ahead
Ramayana remains one of the most awaited films of the year and is planned as a two-part release. Part 1 is set to arrive in theatres on Diwali this year, while Part 2 will follow on Diwali 2027.
The fire comes soon after YouTuber MrBeast attended a Ramayana event in Mumbai with Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Ravie Dubey, Namit Malhotra and Nitesh Tiwari. For now, the immediate relief is that a smoky scare stayed just that: no casualties, and the fire was contained before it could spread further.
