South OTT releases this week: Epic, Mandaadi, Sardar 2, #Love
From the Telugu rom-com Epic to Tamil spy sequel Sardar 2 and Malayalam record-holder Bethlehem Kudumba Unit, here's what to stream this week.

October 5 to 11 is a reminder that southern streaming has moved well beyond a single-tone offering. This week’s digital slate spans Telugu romance-comedy, Tamil sports and spy action, a web series about rival dating founders, and the Malayalam Onam-season record-holder. For Hindi film fans who like to keep one foot in the south, the watchlist just got wider.
What’s streaming this week
- Epic – First Semester — The Telugu rom-com reunites Anand Deverakonda and Vaishnavi Chaitanya after Baby, with Aditya Haasan directing. Anand plays a middle-class dreamer pushed towards higher studies in the UK; Vaishnavi plays Kadali. On Netflix from October 9.
- Mandaadi — Mathimaran Pugazhendhi’s Tamil sports thriller stars Soori and is built around coastal Tamil Nadu’s traditional sailboat racing. The title refers to the leader of a fishing expedition team during those races. It streams on Netflix from October 8.
- Sardar 2 — P.S. Mithran’s science-fiction spy sequel puts Karthi in a dual role as a RAW agent chasing a larger conspiracy after a fellow agent goes missing. It is available on Prime Video.
- #Love — Arjun Das and Aishwarya Lekshmi lead this web show about two rival dating-app philosophies: detailed personality matching versus raw chemistry. It began streaming on Netflix on October 2.
- Bethlehem Kudumba Unit — This Malayalam romance-comedy-drama, directed by Girish A.D., stars Nivin Pauly and Mamitha Baiju. It was Malayalam cinema’s highest grosser during the Onam theatrical window, and it is part of this week’s digital conversation.
Why the spread matters
South Indian OTT has started programming like a multiplex rather than a single-screen. Netflix is leaning into star-led genre variety with three of the week’s titles, while Prime Video is backing a franchise sequel in Sardar 2. The presence of a Malayalam record-holder online also widens access for audiences who missed the Onam theatrical run.
For Hindi film fans, this is a low-stakes entry point into three southern industries at once — you can sample Telugu romance-comedy, Tamil spy action and Malayalam charm without committing to a theatre ticket.
How to plan your watchlist
Think mood first. Want warm, easy comfort? Epic – First Semester and Bethlehem Kudumba Unit are the soft-landing picks. Want a spy universe with dual-role Karthi? Sardar 2. Want an underdog sports story? Mandaadi. Want a relationship debate disguised as a web series? #Love is your argument-starter.
Also note the schedule: #Love has already landed, Mandaadi and Epic arrive on different nights, and Sardar 2 is already waiting on Prime Video. That is a weekend spread, not a single-night pile-up.
