Vedika Pinto’s next is a Dharma romance-thriller with Lakshya
Vedika Pinto reveals her upcoming Dharma film with Lakshya, directed by Prosit Roy: a romance-thriller she says is unlike most Dharma projects.

Vedika Pinto, fresh off her turn as Sudha in Musafir Cafe, has lifted the curtain a little on her next big-screen move: a Dharma production with Lakshya, directed by Prosit Roy and produced by Karan Johar. The actor says the film will feel like a departure for the banner, mixing romance with the pulse of a thriller.
A different Dharma energy
Speaking to Bollywood Bubble, Pinto confirmed that shooting is expected to begin soon. She described the project as “a merger of romance and thrill” and made a point of setting it apart from the Dharma films audiences usually recognise.
Roy, known for Raakh and Paatal Lok, brings a darker, grittier sensibility to the director’s chair. That choice alone signals a shift in tone, and Pinto leaned into the idea that the film will not sit neatly inside the house style.
The script that raised her heart rate
For Pinto, the script stood out before she even signed on. “I don’t think my heart rate has ever been as high while reading either a novel or a script as it has been while I read this,” she said. It is the kind of response actors hope for, and the reason she is treating the unnamed project as a major step.
Plot details, character names and release timelines are still under wraps, but the early shape is clear: a romantic core, a thriller’s tension, and two young leads in Vedika Pinto and Lakshya.
Why the pairing matters
For Hindi film fans, the combination is worth tracking. Dharma has built its name on glossy romance, family drama and larger-than-life emotional beats. Pairing that polish with Prosit Roy’s thriller instincts could produce something more unpredictable.
- Vedika Pinto and Lakshya lead a Dharma film for the first time together.
- Prosit Roy, of Raakh and Paatal Lok, directs.
- Pinto calls the script a unique romance-thriller that made her pulse race.
From Musafir Cafe to season two
Before the new film starts, Pinto is still enjoying the response to Musafir Cafe, where she plays Sudha, a character praised for her warmth, independence and emotional layers. Her earlier credits include Operation Romeo, Gumraah and Anurag Kashyap’s Nishaanchi, and she is due back for Musafir Cafe Season 2.
The next Dharma project may be a while away, but Pinto’s description gives fans a reason to watch for the first announcement, teaser or poster.
