Sigma Day 6: Jason Sanjay’s Debut Dips to Rs 71 Lakh

Jason Sanjay's Sigma earned Rs 71 lakh on day six, taking India net to Rs 7.61 crore. Telugu led with Rs 42 lakh; Tamil added Rs 29 lakh.

Sigma Day 6: Debut Dips to Rs 71 Lakh

Jason Sanjay’s debut heist drama Sigma had its softest day yet at the Indian box office on Wednesday, October 7. The film collected Rs 71 lakh net from 1,377 shows, taking its six-day domestic total to Rs 7.61 crore net. The gross figure now stands at Rs 8.65 crore.

The day-on-day fall from Tuesday’s Rs 75 lakh was only 5.3%, so this is not a sudden collapse. The bigger question is whether the film can hold a thin weekday base after a front-loaded opening. For those following the numbers, net collection is the figure after entertainment-tax adjustments, while gross adds those deductions back.

The box office trail so far

Sigma began with a solid Rs 2.35 crore on October 2. The weekend itself stayed flat, with Saturday and Sunday adding Rs 1.50 crore each, which meant the film entered the working week without major momentum.

  • Day 1, Oct 2: Rs 2.35 crore net from 1,813 shows (31.1% occupancy)
  • Day 2, Oct 3: Rs 1.50 crore from 1,802 shows (22.6%)
  • Day 3, Oct 4: Rs 1.50 crore from 1,753 shows (23.6%)
  • Day 4, Oct 5: Rs 80 lakh from 1,520 shows (17.5%)
  • Day 5, Oct 6: Rs 75 lakh from 1,439 shows (17.5%)
  • Day 6, Oct 7: Rs 71 lakh from 1,377 shows

Collections and show counts have moved in the same direction, with occupancy roughly halving from opening day to the working week. That is a fairly standard pattern for a debut film, but it also means the second weekend cannot be another flat hold.

Telugu is carrying the daily haul

Day six showed a clear language divide. The Telugu version contributed Rs 42 lakh net from 758 shows at 18.0% occupancy, while the Tamil version added Rs 29 lakh from 619 shows at 16.0%. Put simply, nearly three of every five rupees came from Telugu screenings.

Within the Tamil edition, morning shows touched 18.17% occupancy, but evening shows slumped to 6.17%, the weakest session of the day. Telugu screenings were steadier, with evening occupancy at 11.90% and an overall average of 16.30%.

What the footfalls say

The film recorded 83,191 footfalls on Wednesday, pushing its cumulative count to 768,322. That tells us Sigma is still finding an audience in pockets, but the occupancy and show counts are not yet high enough to force exhibitors to add capacity. For fans, the early signal is to catch the film in the language version that is showing better evening energy.

The heist on screen

Sigma follows Guru, played by Sundeep Kishan, whose debt troubles and a tangle with a drug racket lead him and his friends to plan a heist to recover what has been lost. The attempt sets off a chain of confrontations. Sampath Raj, Faria Abdullah and Raju Sundaram are also part of the cast.

The real test arrives with the second weekend. If show counts stabilise and evening occupancy climbs, the film can convert its present footfalls into a longer, steadier run in both languages.
