Ramayana Part One advances India release to November 5

Reports suggest Ramayana: Part One will now open in India on November 5, three days ahead of its Diwali date, with paid previews from November 4.

Ramayana Part One advances India release to November 5

The mythological epic Ramayana: Part One may reach Indian theatres a little earlier than fans were told. With just weeks remaining, multiple reports suggest that the Ranbir Kapoor and Yash starrer has shifted its domestic release from November 8, which coincided with Diwali, to November 5, putting India in step with most of the film’s global rollout.

As of now, the makers have not officially confirmed the revised India plan. However, international posters and overseas schedules have started pointing to an earlier debut, and trade portals are reporting that paid previews in India could begin on November 4.

Why the date is being watched so closely

A change of three days may sound small, but it reshapes the Diwali window. The original November 8 date placed the film right at the festival. A November 5 release would give audiences a mid-week start and create a long opening stretch leading into the Diwali holidays, while the reported November 4 paid previews could start word of mouth a day earlier.

It also brings the India date closer to the global plan. The reported overseas calendar is spread across a few days:

  • North America: paid previews on November 4, followed by a November 5 release
  • Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Germany, the rest of Europe and Latin America: November 5
  • UK, South Africa and Mauritius: November 6
  • China, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong: dates still undisclosed

Godzilla is still part of the Diwali picture

Moving a few days early does not give Ramayana a clear run. Godzilla Minus Zero, the sequel to Godzilla Minus One, is also in the Diwali mix. Its early access IMAX screenings are reportedly set for November 3, with the global theatrical rollout from November 6. The Japanese monster film has started strong, with early reports putting its Rotten Tomatoes score at 97%.

That means both films will be competing for premium-format attention in the same week, even if their opening days differ slightly.

What fans should do next

For now, the practical advice is simple: treat November 5 as the likely India date, but wait for an official confirmation before making final plans. If the paid preview shows are confirmed, they will be the earliest chance to see the film.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana: Part One stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana, with Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravie Dubey as Lakshmana. The second instalment is slated for Diwali 2027.
