Reporting Live Review: Parineeti Shines, Story Lacks Bite
Parineeti Chopra and Deven Bhojani make Reporting Live watchable, but the OTT investigation into illegal sand mining is predictable and low on suspense.

Parineeti Chopra is back in the OTT space with Reporting Live, a crime-and-journalism thriller that turns on illegal sand mining. She plays Sandhya Yadav, a reporter hungry for a prime-time breakthrough. Deven Bhojani is Vinod Sharma, the cameraman who gets pulled into the chase. When a bridge collapses in the fictional town of Visargaon and a bus goes into the river, the two follow a story that quickly puts their lives at risk.
For Hindi film fans, the OTT release itself matters. Streaming has become a natural home for issue-led dramas that do not always fit theatrical expectations. Reporting Live uses that space, but it also enters a crowded genre where viewers have already seen sharper takes on real-world rackets.
A serious subject, a familiar route
The film walks known territory. Illegal mining and the nexus between money, crime and power have been explored in Hindi cinema before, and Reporting Live does not make the material feel new. The Times of India review calls it “a well-intentioned but familiar investigative thriller” and says the seriousness of the subject rarely turns into sustained suspense.
What keeps it watchable
The biggest reason to press play is the pairing. Parineeti gives Sandhya a believable drive, and Bhojani’s reluctant cameraman keeps the story grounded. Bhojani, in particular, brings a wary, human energy that balances Parineeti’s single-minded reporter, and their scenes carry most of the film’s warmth.
The review credits the lead performances, the tight framing of the story and the moody visuals with keeping the film reasonably engaging, even though the plot lands where most viewers will expect.
What works and what doesn’t:
- The leads: Parineeti and Bhojani keep the film alive even when the story sags.
- The issue: illegal sand mining and its dangerous power network feel relevant.
- The payoff: predictable turns and limited character depth keep the danger from feeling immediate.
Should you stream it?
If you are in the mood for a measured OTT investigation, Reporting Live is a decent one-sitting watch. Go in for the performances and the atmosphere rather than for twists. It is the kind of film that works better as a slow newsroom drama than as a taut thriller. The film raises an important question about the cost of exposing the truth, but it does not create enough urgency for that cost to hit hard.
