Koffee With Karan ends after 161 episodes; Salman opens finale
Salman Khan opens the ninth and final season of Koffee With Karan; Karan Johar revives the 2013 'virgin' question and the episode streams on JioHotstar.

The couch that turned Bollywood chatter into appointment viewing is back for one last pour. Karan Johar’s Koffee With Karan returns for its ninth and final season, and Salman Khan is the first guest, with the episode streaming on JioHotstar tomorrow.
A callback from the Season 4 couch
A new promo gives fans a peek at the exchange. Karan introduces Salman as a ‘wise’ man and recalls the actor’s viral ‘It’s done, bro’ post from July. Salman fires back by teasing Karan about the show ending and jokes that he might start ‘Koffee With Salman’.
Then Karan asks the question that has followed Salman since his 2013 debut on the show: ‘Are you still a virgin?’ This time Salman does not repeat his old straight-faced ‘Yes, I’m a virgin’ answer. Instead, he borrows Ravi Kishan’s delivery and says, ‘Control, my brother, control.’
The promo also lands a softer beat. Salman tells Karan, ‘Tusi na jao, Karan,’ a line from Karan’s directorial debut Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, and shares that he reached a point where he had to follow his own advice.
Why the finale starts with a full circle
Karan announced the ninth and final season on September 30 with an emotional video. He traced the show’s journey from June 2004, when he first pitched the idea to his father Yash Johar, to August 16, 2004, the first day of shooting. His father passed away on June 26, 2004, before the show went into production.
By Karan’s count, the show has now run for eight seasons, 22 years and 161 episodes. That long tail of confessions, feuds and meme-ready moments is why bringing Salman back as the opening guest feels less like a booking and more like a bookend.
- Salman Khan opens the final season; the episode streams on JioHotstar tomorrow.
- Karan revives the 2013 ‘Are you still a virgin?’ question in the promo.
- Karan’s farewell message counts 22 years and 161 episodes.
- Reported future guests include Vijay Deverakonda, Rashmika Mandanna, Kajol, Kareena Kapoor, Jaya Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Farhan Akhtar.
What to watch for next
The show has long lived on candid celebrity conversation, friendly fire and the headlines that follow each episode. With the final season, Karan appears to be leaning into the show’s own history rather than resetting the format.
For fans, the simplest way in is to catch the opener on JioHotstar and revisit Salman’s Season 4 episode for the original exchange. After 161 episodes, the couch is preparing to sign off, but it is opening with the kind of banter that made it a pop-culture fixture.
