Saif Ali Khan crosses 2.3 lakh Instagram followers after debut

Saif Ali Khan makes a rare Instagram debut, passes 2.3 lakh followers, and trades playful father-son banter with Ibrahim Ali Khan.

Saif joins Instagram, Ibrahim asks: is this you?

Saif Ali Khan has finally joined Instagram, and his first headline-making moment isn’t a teaser or a brand post. It’s a playful back-and-forth with son Ibrahim Ali Khan. It’s also a rare move for an actor who has spent years resisting the platform.

A father-son debut

Saif posted pictures of himself in his home library. Ibrahim jumped into the comments with a familiar doubt: “Is this you, Abba, no na?” Saif replied with an old childhood photograph of Ibrahim and asked if the little boy in the frame was his son in May 2008. Ibrahim wrote back, “I guess so.”

Saif then kept the banter going with a very filmi dad-style line about a picture speaking a thousand words, signing off with a cheery “Allo son!”

The account is already personal

Since the debut, Saif has crossed over 2.3 lakh followers. He follows only five accounts, which tells fans exactly where his attention is:

  • Ibrahim Ali Khan
  • Kareena Kapoor Khan
  • Soha Ali Khan
  • Sara Ali Khan
  • Karisma Kapoor

For a star who has always guarded his private life, that family-only list makes the account feel less like a promotional tool and more like a window into the Pataudi-Khan circle. For fans, the follow list doubles as a quick guide to his inner world.

Why the wait mattered

In September 2024, Saif explained that he stayed away from social media because it felt too time-consuming. He said he could easily spend half an hour scrolling through “the most inane things” and had deleted the app at one point. He also worried about negativity, calling the endless scroll “dangerous” for someone like him.

That history is part of why this debut has landed so warmly. Fans waited years, and the first post delivered a family moment instead of a polished announcement. Comments ranged from jokey pleas for lessons to celebratory welcomes, with many tagging Ibrahim in the replies.

What’s next for the Khans

Saif was last seen in Haiwaan with Akshay Kumar and the crime thriller Kartavya. He has the period drama Hum Hindustani ahead. Ibrahim, meanwhile, made his lead debut in Nadaaniyan (2025) and followed it with Sarzameen, after cutting his teeth as an assistant director on Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (2023).

The exchange also spotlights the easy chemistry between father and son, which makes the new account feel less like marketing and more like a peek at their real equation. If this first exchange is a sign, the account may be worth following for the family group-chat energy alone.
