Jailer 2 hits ₹209 cr worldwide in two days
Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 crossed ₹209 crore worldwide in two days. Tamil led Day 2 with ₹25.25 crore; Hindi occupancy stayed at 21%.

Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 has crossed the ₹200-crore mark worldwide within its first two days, according to trade figures. By Friday night, the sequel’s worldwide gross stood at ₹209.10 crore, built on a strong domestic start and significant overseas support.
The film, which also features Mohanlal and Vidya Balan, added ₹35.60 crore net in India on its second day, 16 October. That takes its two-day India net total to ₹95.30 crore and its India gross to ₹112.10 crore. Overseas gross touched ₹97 crore.
Day 2, language by language
The Tamil version continued to dominate multiplexes and single screens. It collected ₹25.25 crore from 7,243 shows at 61% occupancy. Telugu added ₹7.25 crore from 1,940 shows at 54.3% occupancy. Hindi lagged with ₹2.75 crore from 3,850 shows and just 21% occupancy. Kannada contributed ₹35 lakh from 124 shows.
- Tamil: ₹25.25 crore, 7,243 shows, 61% occupancy
- Telugu: ₹7.25 crore, 1,940 shows, 54.3% occupancy
- Hindi: ₹2.75 crore, 3,850 shows, 21% occupancy
- Kannada: ₹35 lakh, 124 shows, 46% occupancy
A big first day, then the usual slowdown
The second-day domestic net declined 40.4% from Thursday’s ₹59.70 crore opening. That kind of drop is typical after a large opening day, especially when night shows on Day 1 do heavy lifting. Friday’s overall occupancy was 48.2% across 13,157 shows, down from 55.4% on opening day.
Even so, the Tamil 2D version held strongly into the evening. Night shows recorded 85.92% occupancy, while morning shows began at 39.54%. The Hindi 2D version was much softer, peaking at 44.17% in night shows.
Footfalls tell the same story
Jailer 2 recorded 2,383,879 footfalls on Friday, taking its two-day cumulative footfalls to 6,130,613. The show count also came down from 16,599 on Day 1 to 13,157 on Day 2, which is a normal correction after a wide opening.
Worldwide gross is the combined ticket revenue from all territories before distributor and exhibitor shares, which is why it runs ahead of the India net collection.
What the ETimes review says
ETimes gave the film three stars out of five. The review felt that the second half turns serious and violent but does not fully deliver on the first half’s promise. As ETimes put it, the film becomes ‘serious, bloody and somewhat less impactful to what the first half promised.’
The review also noted that the family conflict around Jailer’s son, involving Ramya Krishnan and Mirna’s characters, had real tension but was staged through generic mass-hero moments.
What to watch next
The worldwide figure is strong, but the language split shows where the audience is. Tamil Nadu and the Telugu states are carrying the film, while the Hindi version has room to grow. The next test is how Jailer 2 holds through the weekdays before the second weekend.
