Ramayana new footage spotlights Yash’s Shiv Tandav and epic battles

Fresh Ramayana: Rise of a Legend footage gives fans a closer look at Yash's Ravana, Ranbir's Rama in battle, and the Diwali release's VFX ambitions.

Yash's Shiv Tandav and Ranbir's battle get the spotlight

Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Rise of a Legend has moved from mythic scale to close-up detail. A fresh visual drop, shared early Saturday morning, gives viewers their most polished look yet at the film’s central figures and the action scenes that will carry its Diwali release.

What the new footage shows

The clip arrives days after Trailer 2 and still contains imagery that had not been seen before. Ranbir Kapoor’s Rama cuts through demon warriors. Sai Pallavi appears in a warrior-like avatar, reinforcing that this version of Sita will not stand on the sidelines. Kunal Kapoor’s Indra raises the Vajra, with the thunder effect drawing immediate attention.

But the biggest talking point is Yash’s Ravana. The footage offers the long-awaited glimpse of Ravana performing the Shiv Tandav, the moment fans have been asking about since the project was first teased.

The Shiv Tandav is the centrepiece

Yash’s Ravana has been one of the film’s most protected reveals. By placing the Shiv Tandav in the new footage, the makers are betting on Yash’s intensity to anchor the antagonist’s side of the story. In the epic, Ravana’s devotion and power are inseparable from his arrogance; staging the dance properly gives the character a grandeur that a simple villain edit cannot.

Fan attention moves to the details

Reaction to the footage has been loudest around the smaller reveals. Viewers identified the Shiv Tandav as a full sequence rather than a flash-frame. Shobana’s Kaikasi, Ravana’s mother, was also picked out for her fierce warrior appearance. The character is described as the daughter of Sumali, and fans are already treating her debut as a scene to watch.

The visual effects are under the microscope too. Comments on the clip suggest the creatures and giants look noticeably improved from the teaser and Trailer 2. For a film of this scale, that shift matters: VFX credibility will decide whether the audience treats Ramayana as a premium event or a risk.

  • Rama and Sita: battle sequences show both in combat against demons.
  • Indra: Kunal Kapoor wields the Vajra as thunder visuals peak.
  • Ravana: Yash performs the Shiv Tandav in a sequence fans quickly identified.
  • Kaikasi: Shobana’s first warrior look becomes an instant talking point.

Why this footage matters before Diwali

The film is set for a worldwide theatrical release on November 5, 2026, right in the Diwali window. Every new asset is therefore doing two jobs: feeding the fandom and convincing a wider family audience that the spectacle will justify the ticket price.

The caption accompanying the video, “A LIFE SIZED EPIC,” sets the pitch. For a story as familiar as the Ramayana, the new footage argues that the experience—not just the plot—will be the draw. With less than three weeks to go, the campaign is likely to keep moving between character-first reveals and VFX-heavy action cuts.
