Johnny Lever death hoax debunked by daughter Jamie Lever
Jamie Lever dismisses a viral condolence poster claiming her father Johnny Lever has died; earlier fact-checks also found no evidence.

A viral condolence-style image is circulating on social media with a false claim: veteran comedian Johnny Lever has died. The post has worried fans, but there is no credible reporting or official family statement behind it.
What the viral post shows
The image places Johnny Lever at the centre, flanked by monochrome photographs, with lit candles and floral tributes. Hindi text makes it look like an obituary, but a polished design is not confirmation. Anyone can create and circulate a condolence graphic without verifying the news.
Jamie Lever responds
His daughter, comedian and actor Jamie Lever, told ETimes that such rumours keep resurfacing. “It happens repeatedly. Don’t want to pay any attention to this,” she said. Her response suggests the family has dealt with these claims before and sees no reason to amplify a hoax.
This is not the first false alarm
The Quint debunked similar death claims about Johnny Lever in fact-checks published on August 14, 2025, and again on April 17, 2026. The 2026 report also flagged false posts naming Nana Patekar. In the 2025 case, the report noted that Johnny Lever had shared birthday-related posts on social media that same day.
- A fake condolence poster is not proof.
- The claim has been dismissed by his daughter.
- Earlier fact-checks found no credible evidence for similar rumours.
- Johnny Lever remains active, with Golmaal 5 on the way.
Johnny Lever’s next film
Johnny Lever remains one of Hindi cinema’s most recognisable comic performers, known for Baazigar, Dulhe Raja, Deewana Mastana, Phir Hera Pheri and the Golmaal franchise. He is associated with the upcoming Golmaal 5, directed by Rohit Shetty, which has a theatrical release date of January 8, 2027.
What fans should do
Treat a viral death post as a claim, not news. Check trusted entertainment desks and wait for a statement from the family or a representative. If the only source is a shareable graphic, pause before passing it on.
