Rashmika and Vijay Celebrate First Bathukamma After Wedding in Hyderabad
Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna marked their first Bathukamma after marriage at Hyderabad's Tank Bund with dance, silk sarees and a big Telangana welcome.

Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna brought their newlywed energy to the grand Saddula Bathukamma celebrations at Hyderabad’s Tank Bund, joining a large gathering of revellers around the flower-and-song traditions of Telangana. It was their first festival appearance together after their February wedding, and Rashmika did not let the moment pass quietly.
Rashmika’s stage moment
The actor admitted she was nervous when asked to speak, saying she usually does not know what to say on stage and the scale of this celebration made it harder. She recalled that after the wedding, Vijay told her he would take her to a place where Bathukamma is celebrated in a big way and that she could dance there. Then she delivered the line that summed up the mood: she had come as the “official daughter-in-law of Telangana.”
She added that at home her mother-in-law and other family members dance the Bathukamma steps, and she knows a little but came to learn from the women around her. The couple then danced around the floral arrangements, with Rashmika in a royal blue and yellow silk saree and Vijay in a yellow embroidered kurta with beige pyjamas.
The couple’s first Bathukamma is also a small relationship milestone for fans who have followed their story from on-screen pairing to marriage. Vijay’s promise to Rashmika, as she recalled it, made the celebration feel like a family welcome rather than a promotional pitstop.
Why it matters
This is the kind of appearance that connects pan-India stars back to a regional cultural calendar. Telangana’s Bathukamma is not a red-carpet event; it is a community ritual. When two of the most visible young actors in south and Hindi cinema join it, they make the festival legible to fans who may never have heard of Saddula or Engili Pula.
- Saddula Bathukamma is the grand finale of a nine-day festival.
- The cycle begins with Engili Pula Bathukamma during Mahalaya Amavasya.
- It culminates around Durga Ashtami, with women singing and dancing around tiered seasonal flowers.
Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla and state ministers Jupally Krishna Rao and Sithakka were also at Tank Bund, which underlined the day’s cultural rather than purely commercial weight. For Telugu families, Bathukamma is also a moment where new brides are welcomed into household and neighbourhood rhythms. Rashmika framing herself as a daughter-in-law, not a star visiting a cultural event, turned a public appearance into a family story.
What to do with the Bathukamma mood
If you are in Hyderabad for the next edition, the Tank Bund finale is the easiest entry point. Go for the community, not just the celebrity sighting. Watch how the flower stacks are built, ask about the songs, and wear traditional silk if you want to match the spirit. The festival is a reminder that regional culture travels best when it stays rooted in participation, not spectatorship.
