Yash’s Emotional Appeal: Don’t Nitpick Ramayana’s VFX

Yash made an emotional appeal at the Ramayana pre-release event, asking fans not to nitpick VFX and to protect producer Namit Malhotra's global dream.

Yash’s Emotional Appeal: Don’t Nitpick Ramayana’s VFX

At the Hyderabad pre-release event for Ramayana, the evening’s final speaker did not fall back on a conventional promotional pitch. Yash, who plays Ravana and is also a producing partner, asked the audience to do something harder: watch the film with generosity, especially when it comes to the visual effects.

“Please don’t try to find small faults in VFX,” he said, in a moment that became the emotional centre of the evening.

Why Yash wants fans to protect Namit Malhotra

The appeal was directed at producer Namit Malhotra, the man driving the film’s global ambition. Yash described someone who was already comfortable doing business in Los Angeles, but who kept returning to one idea: Indian talent has achieved so much around the world, and now it should do the same for the Indian film industry.

According to Yash, Malhotra was not content even when Indians were winning Oscars. What he wanted, Yash said, was Indian cinema itself placed at that level. That conviction is what convinced Yash to play Ravana and come aboard as a producing partner.

“He has made a gamble,” Yash added. “He has put his reputation, his money and everything at stake to put this film on a global platform.”

A fair first look, not a free pass

Yash was careful not to ask audiences to switch off their judgment. He noted that Malhotra has always taken criticism and correction in stride and tried to make the film better. The worry is different: that an ambitious Indian visual-effects project could be reduced to a hunt for imperfect frames before it is judged as cinema.

That distinction matters for fans too:

  • Watch with an open mind: judge Ramayana as a film, not as a series of VFX stills.
  • Separate honest critique from nitpicking: Yash is not asking audiences to ignore real problems, only not to chase small faults.
  • Back the larger project: a globally ambitious Indian film needs room to land, he argued.

It is a useful reframing for big-canvas Indian cinema. So much online conversation about VFX now runs ahead of the actual film, and Yash’s appeal is an attempt to slow that reflex before the first show.

What comes next

Ramayana releases in cinemas worldwide on November 5. Advance bookings are expected to open on Dussehra, giving fans an early chance to reserve seats. The Hyderabad event brought together Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Rakul Preet Singh, Ravie Dubey, director Nitesh Tiwari, producer Namit Malhotra and distributor Dil Raju, with Yash making the closing appeal.
