Udta Teer review: Ayushmann Khurrana scores 4 moons in laugh riot

Ayushmann Khurrana plays a Pakistani agent with amnesia in India. Our take on the 4-moon comedy co-starring Sara Ali Khan and Rahul Bose.

Udta Teer: 4 moons for Ayushmann's comic ride

PeepingMoon’s review of Udta Teer is out, and it hands the Ayushmann Khurrana-starrer a strong 4 Moons. The film rests on a twisted premise: a Pakistani agent, Bilal Ahmed, arrives in India on a mission, loses his memory in an accident and begins believing he is Indian. What follows is a mistaken-identity comedy with political satire and plenty of family-friendly chaos.

A plot that flips the spy formula

Sara Ali Khan plays Yamini, who becomes an important part of Bilal’s new life in India. Rahul Bose is his boss Burman, who struggles with Bilal’s unexpected transformation. Ram Kapoor, Gulshan Grover, Mukul Dev and Brijendra Kala add to the drama. The film keeps the central question alive: will Bilal get his memory back, and what happens if he does?

The ensemble lifts the chaos

The review singles out Khurrana’s command of the film’s comic rhythm, his expressions and his dialogue delivery. Mukul Dev wins praise for a tribute-worthy performance, while Rahul Bose earns a special mention for his reactions and timing. Sara Ali Khan’s Yamini is called a good fit, and Ram Kapoor, Gulshan Grover and Brijendra Kala are credited with adding to the comedy.

Direction, dialogue and music

Director Akash A Kaushik gets credit for pulling an unusual premise into a confident theatrical experience. The review notes that Udta Teer was shot before Dhurandhar, but shows a different side of his imagination. The one-liners and meta jokes are the backbone, and the actors’ delivery makes them land harder. On the music front, the film offers romantic, patriotic and party flavours, with the Emiway Bantai track near the end as an extra highlight.

Why it works

  • The identity-swap premise gives the comedy a built-in engine of misunderstandings.
  • A strong supporting cast, including Mukul Dev and Rahul Bose, keeps the scenes lively.
  • The music balances romance, patriotism and party energy without derailing the tone.

Should you watch it?

If you love patriotic films but want a different flavour, this review suggests Udta Teer is worth a family outing. It does not ask you to take the spy plot too seriously; the laughs, reactions and one-liners are the point. Stay through the closing music, and the celebratory mood should land as intended.
