6 Arrested in Tiger Shroff Firing, Old ‘Billi’ Remark Resurfaces

Six men have been held after shots were fired at Tiger Shroff's car in Mumbai. Here is why his old 'billi' remark about Salman Khan is back.

6 arrested in Tiger Shroff firing; old 'billi' remark resurfaces

On 18 October, gunmen fired at Tiger Shroff’s car near Pushpa Narsee Park in Mumbai’s Juhu as he returned home after a football match. Shroff escaped unhurt, but his driver and a fan were injured. Mumbai Police have arrested six men in connection with the firing, and the investigation now points to a wider conspiracy.

The ‘billi’ moment that is suddenly back

Amid the headlines, a 2022 clip has resurfaced. At the launch of DaFa Kar, a song from Heropanti 2, Shroff brushed aside any comparisons with Salman Khan and the “Tiger” tag.

“There is only one Tiger in this industry, and that is Salman sir,” Shroff said. He added that he was “just a cat” in front of Salman, or “Simba, a tiger cub” by comparison.

The line was playful, but it also underlines how closely the name “Tiger” belongs to Salman on screen. He first played intelligence agent Tiger in Ek Tha Tiger (2012), then returned in Tiger Zinda Hai (2017) and Tiger 3 (2023).

Six arrests, and an alleged conspiracy

Police say three men — Rehan, Phool Singh and Ritik — fired at the car from two motorcycles. They were arrested in Kota, Rajasthan, and handed over to Mumbai Police.

Three more men were held in Sonipat, Haryana, for allegedly helping plan and facilitate the attack:

  • Sameer: allegedly in contact with US-based gangster Anil Pandit.
  • Jatin Panchal: accused of arranging the weapon used in the shooting.
  • Ankit Khatak: allegedly travelled to Mumbai for reconnaissance.

A Mumbai court remanded the Sonipat trio in police custody until 28 October. Investigators are examining CCTV footage, hotel records and evidence from Aarey Colony, where the accused allegedly practised firing on 17 October, a day before the attack.

After the shooting, Pandit — described as an associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang — reportedly claimed responsibility and threatened Salman Khan and people working with him.

Why it matters to fans

The resurfaced quote is no longer just a fun awards-season aside. It now sits inside a serious security story that touches two of Bollywood’s best-known action stars. Shroff’s respect for Salman had been mutual: in 2021, Salman named Shroff among the younger actors who pushed him to keep training as he approached his sixties.

For fans, that warm exchange now carries a different weight. The “billi vs Tiger” line is a reminder that the title comes with a lot of attention — and, at times, real danger.
