Shaan moonwalks through Billie Jean at Dubai show
Shaan swapped his romantic hits for a moonwalk-heavy Billie Jean tribute at Dubai's Coca-Cola Arena, and fans are calling him Michael Jackshaan.

Shaan has spent decades as one of Bollywood’s most assured playback singers — the voice behind romantic, melody-led hits that have anchored everything from college playlists to wedding sangeets. At his latest Dubai stop, though, he gave the audience a different kind of memory: a moonwalk across the Coca-Cola Arena stage during Michael Jackson’s "Billie Jean".
A surprise set at Coca-Cola Arena
The moment came during Shaan’s All of Me Tour. Moving away from his usual Hindi repertoire, the singer built part of the set around English pop and saved Jackson’s iconic track for the payoff. He did not simply cover the song; he brought the full physical language — sharp dance steps, the hat tilts and a completed moonwalk — while the crowd recorded from the floor. Within hours, clips began travelling on social media.
Fans give Shaan a new nickname
The reaction was quick, warm and a little giddy. One X user wrote, "Yooo this instantly transported me to my early teens when I had a raging crush on Shaan…turns out I still do!" Another said, "Shaan doing Michael Jackson was NOT on my 2026 bingo card but here we are." The line that stuck, though, was shorter: "Michael Jackshaan."
A concert-goer described the English set as a pleasant surprise and added that the "Billie Jean" performance "hits different when Shaan sings (also performs) it." Some replies framed it as confirmation of something fans have long sensed — that Shaan’s live range is wider than the soft romantic hits suggest.
Why this matters for live Bollywood acts
For a singer known for "Tanha Dil", "Woh Pehli Baar", "Chand Sifarish", "Jab Se Tere Naina" and "Behti Hawa Sa Tha Woh", the Dubai stop functions as a live rebrand. It gives the audience a reason to film, to share and to ask for more — an online poll tied to the coverage is already asking which Michael Jackson song he should take on next, with 5,000+ votes in and 3,000+ users sharing an opinion.
What made the moment work:
- A clear shift: the romantic balladeer stepped into a very different pop silhouette.
- A visual hook: the moonwalk and hat work gave fans something to capture beyond the audio.
- A shareable line: fans did the naming, and "Michael Jackshaan" carried the clip further.
Shaan, whose full name is Shantanu Mukherjee, has always moved between romantic ballads, upbeat numbers and pop. In Dubai he made that range physical — one glide across the stage at a time. If the viral clips are any guide, this may not be a one-off.
