Sai Pallavi Says Ramayana Part 2 Filming Hasn’t Started
At the Los Angeles premiere of Ramayana: Rise of a Legend, Sai Pallavi revealed she hasn't begun filming the sequel, while the first film opens October 5.

At the first global screening of Ramayana: Rise of a Legend, Sai Pallavi had a simple update for anyone waiting on the sequel: it has not gone before the cameras yet.
The sequel status is refreshingly clear
Speaking to international media at an invite-only 3D screening at the David Geffen Theatre in the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, Los Angeles, the actor who plays Sita was asked about Ramayana Part 2. “I haven’t started filming yet,” she said.
The moment keeps the spotlight on the first instalment, directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra. The film follows Rama’s exile, Ravana’s abduction of Sita, and the resulting battle between good and evil.
A Los Angeles launch with a bigger mission
The premiere was not a routine preview. It was the first screening of the film and gave the team a global stage to present Indian epics to audiences who may not have grown up with them.
Pallavi made that pitch directly. “If you are curious about Indian culture and epics, this could be the start where you could see the best version of Ramayana that exists,” she said. She tied that confidence to the film’s visual effects and technical team.
The epic as a moral mirror
Beyond spectacle, Pallavi spoke about why the Ramayana continues to resonate. She pointed to the complexity of Ravana, rather than a simple villain, as the doorway for introspection. She noted that Ravana is not all bad, and said the point is to spot the Ravana within ourselves and make changes over time. As she put it, “It is important that we spot Ravana in us, and we make changes over time.”
Who showed up and what comes next
The screening also doubled as a fashion moment. Pallavi wore a red zardosi saree with intricate embroidery. Ranbir Kapoor arrived in a silver bandhgala; Yash, who plays Ravana, wore an all-black ensemble with a Ravana brooch. Yash was joined by Radhika Pandit in a green-and-gold silk saree. Guests included Jada Pinkett Smith, Rohini Iyer, Benji Kelly and Gisella Marengo.
The ensemble cast includes Sunny Deol as Hanuman, Ravie Dubey as Lakshman, and a supporting lineup featuring Anupam Kher, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Vivek Oberoi, Kunal Kapoor, Adinath Kothare, Arun Govil, Indira Krishnan and Lara Dutta.
For fans, the key dates are clear:
- Worldwide theatrical release: October 5
- Paid premieres: reportedly begin November 4
- Ramayana Part 2 filming: not yet started
Until the sequel goes into production, the first film is the complete Ramayana experience to plan for.
