T-Series has pulled out of co-producing Anubhav Sinha‘s ‘Bheed’, a hard-hitting film on the migratory trauma faced during the first phase of the COVID pandemic. The film is complete and on the verge of release on March 24. However, sources suggest that T-Series’ decision to withdraw is not a necessity, but a pre-emptive response to avoid any potential controversy. The Central Board of Film Certification has reportedly found nothing objectionable in the film’s content, and it is expected to receive a censor certificate with a few cuts. The ruling party’s stance on the film and filmmakers has been clear, and discreet inquiries reveal no objections from the Prime Minister’s office regarding ‘Bheed’. The source close to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting also adds that “bow-and-scrape culture” won’t get anyone brownie points with the ruling party.
