Aaradhya Bachchan, the 11-year-old daughter of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan, has moved the Delhi High Court against a YouTube tabloid for reporting false news about her health and personal life. Being a minor, Aaradhya has sought an injunction against such media reporting. The hearing for the case is scheduled for April 20.
The Bachchan family has been vocal about the constant trolling and negativity that Aaradhya receives online. Abhishek Bachchan had previously expressed his intolerance towards the hate comments directed towards his daughter. As a public figure, he has said that he can tolerate any criticism directed towards him but not towards his child.
Despite the online trolling, Aaradhya has been making frequent public appearances with her mother, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Recently, the mother-daughter duo was seen at the grand inauguration of the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) at the Jio World Gardens.
It is unfortunate that even children are not spared from the harsh world of online trolling and fake news. It is high time that stricter laws are put in place to protect minors from such malicious and false reporting. The move by Aaradhya Bachchan to seek an injunction against such media reporting is a step in the right direction, and we hope that justice prevails.
