Aishwarya Rai Bachchan on her Love for Indian Cinema and Working with Mani Ratnam

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, one of Bollywood’s most iconic actors, spoke at the trailer launch of “Ponniyin Selvan 2” about her love for Indian cinema and her experiences working with acclaimed South Indian filmmaker Mani Ratnam.

The 49-year-old actor stated that she sees cinema as Indian cinema and does not differentiate between North and South. She emphasized that wherever there is an opportunity to shine, learn and grow as an artist, she will take it. Rai Bachchan expressed gratitude for having the opportunity to collaborate with Mani Ratnam, Shankar, and AR Rahman.

The actor went on to say that her answer to a Mani Ratnam movie will always be a “yes,” calling it adoration, devotion, thankfulness or love. Rai Bachchan believes that any actor deeply aspires to work with Mani Ratnam, and she feels blessed to have worked with him on multiple occasions.

Rai Bachchan also spoke about her role in “Ponniyin Selvan 2,” where she plays a character named Nandini. She expressed her gratitude for getting to play such a strong and layered woman who touches the lives of many women out there. She stated that the relatability of her character is what makes it even more special to her.
