Producer Anand Pandit is planning a sequel to his hit Gujarati film ‘Fakt Mahilao Maate’ which starred Yashi Soni and Deeksha Joshi in the lead roles. The film had broken several box office records for Gujarati cinema and proved that regional films can also do good business if they have good content. Pandit, who has also backed Marathi and Gujarati films, said that the sequel is in the works and will be announced soon.
Directed by Jay Bodas, ‘Fakt Mahilao Maate’ is a comedy that tells the story of a man who gains a superpower to hear what goes in the minds of women. The film also had a special appearance and narration by Amitabh Bachchan.
Apart from the sequel, Pandit also has another Gujarati film titled ‘Tron Ekka’ in the pipeline, which stars Yash Soni, Malhar Thakar and Hitu Kanodiya. The comedy is almost finished shooting and is set to release in August. Pandit said that the film features the three biggest superstars from Gujarati cinema.
With the success of ‘Fakt Mahilao Maate’ and other regional films, it seems like Pandit is not just making a mark in Bollywood, but also in the regional cinema space.
