Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt’s ‘2 States’ Celebrates 9 Years of Its Release

Arjun Kapoor took to social media to celebrate the 9th anniversary of the romantic drama ‘2 States’ on Tuesday. The actor shared an animated motion poster featuring a girl and boy, along with the movie’s title. The film, which released in 2014, is based on Chetan Bhagat‘s novel ‘2 States: The Story of My Marriage’ and marked Abhishek Varman’s directorial debut. Produced jointly by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Sajid Nadiadwala’s Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, ‘2 States’ starred Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles, with supporting cast including Ronit Roy, Revathi, Amrita Singh, and Shiv Kumar Subramaniam.

The film tells the story of Krish Malhotra (Arjun Kapoor), a Punjabi boy, and Ananya Swaminathan (Alia Bhatt), a Tamilian Brahmin girl who meet at an MBA institute and fall in love. Despite coming from different cultural backgrounds, the couple tries to convince their parents to accept their relationship before getting married.

‘2 States’ was not only praised for its cast performances but also for its music, story, and direction, and went on to become a critical and commercial success. Arjun Kapoor, who was last seen in Aasmaan Bhardwaj’s dark comedy ‘Kuttey’ alongside Tabu, Radhika Madaan, and Konkona Sen Sharma, will next be seen in an action thriller film ‘The Ladykiller’ with Bhumi Pednekar, as well as an untitled romantic comedy film opposite Bhumi Pednekar and Rakul Preet Singh.
