The much-anticipated film ‘Tiku Weds Sheru,’ produced by Kangana Ranaut and starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Avneet Kaur, recently premiered on Amazon Prime on June 23. However, during the grand trailer launch event held on June 14 in Mumbai, the absence of director Sai Kabir caught the attention of many. This absence led to speculation, given Kangana’s past clashes with directors like Hansal Mehta and Krish. Surprisingly, in the case of ‘Tiku Weds Sheru,’ there have been no reported disputes between Kangana and Sai Kabir.
According to a source, the reason for Sai Kabir’s absence at the event was that he is currently undergoing rehabilitation for drug and alcohol abuse. He was admitted to a facility in Mumbai just a few days before the trailer launch and is expected to complete his program next month. This explains why he was not present at the event and refrained from giving any interviews.
This is not the first time that Sai Kabir has sought rehabilitation for his struggles. In the past, he has undergone rehabilitation multiple times. One such instance occurred after a case was filed against him for the alleged abetment of suicide of his servant. The incident took place on January 31, 2018, when Sai’s servant Raju tragically fell to his death from his 7th-floor apartment in Mumbai’s Yari Road area. Following this incident, Sai Kabir had previously sought treatment at Masina Hospital. However, after the demise of his servant, he was readmitted to the same hospital. Upon his release a few weeks later, he was arrested and charged under Section 306 (Abetment of suicide). He was eventually released in April 2018.
The source also revealed that Sai Kabir is currently facing an ongoing court case related to the incident and has also been accused of molestation, with the case currently being subjudice.
Before ‘Tiku Weds Sheru,’ Sai Kabir had previously directed ‘Revolver Rani’ in 2014, which also starred Kangana Ranaut. Despite the director’s absence, the film has garnered attention and praise for its unique storyline and performances.
While Sai Kabir’s absence at the trailer launch event raised eyebrows, it is important to understand the challenges he is currently facing and to acknowledge the efforts he is making to overcome his personal struggles. The film industry hopes for his successful rehabilitation and wishes him the best in his journey towards recovery.
As ‘Tiku Weds Sheru’ continues to captivate audiences, it stands as a testament to the collaborative efforts of the entire team involved in its creation, including the dedicated producer Kangana Ranaut, the talented cast led by Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Avneet Kaur, and the visionary director Sai Kabir, who has left an indelible mark on Bollywood with his previous works.
