Manjiri Pupala on Gaslight, her journey as an actor, and the regret of her father not seeing her work

Manjiri Pupala is an actor who started her journey as a theater actor and worked in Marathi theater for the longest time. After doing about 1000 shows of a play, she realized that she would like to explore experimental theater. She got to work with amazing directors like Manav Kaul, Sunil Shanbhag, Rajat Kapoor, and Gemini Pathak who directed her first-ever English play. After her father’s demise, she decided to take a look at the field of acting in a commercial way also. Then for the first time, she said yes to a television project. Marathi television is in a great space where some amazing theater actors are going through the same theater process. She met some amazing co-actors, most of them being women. Then she turned towards film acting with a short film, Aamir, which was made under Zoya Akhtar’s supervision. After that, Betaal happened, and Puniya’s character showed up. Manjiri’s mother and sister have been her biggest support in her family, and her father passed away before seeing any of her work.
