Raveena Tandon highlights changing gender dynamics in the Hindi film industry

At the National Conclave on Mann Ki Baat @100, actor Raveena Tandon spoke about the changing gender dynamics in the Hindi film industry. She noted that women in the industry, both in front of and behind the camera, have broken the glass ceiling and entered every male bastion. While issues such as representation and pay disparity still exist, Tandon said that change is on the way with women now occupying top positions in the industry.

She also highlighted the role of TV and OTT platforms in leading the way for gender parity, with women being paid higher and shows featuring female protagonists. Tandon urged the film industry to learn from these mediums and make strides towards greater gender equality.

Tandon’s filmography reflects her commitment to social causes, with films like “Daman” tackling issues such as domestic violence and marital rape. She noted that such topics were brushed under the carpet in the past, but now they are being discussed more openly, thanks in part to the efforts of filmmakers like herself.

Overall, Tandon’s comments are a reminder that while progress has been made, there is still work to be done towards greater gender equality in the Hindi film industry.
