Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt took to social media to remember his late mother, legendary actress Nargis, on her 42nd death anniversary. Sharing an adorable throwback picture from his childhood, Sanjay wrote a heartfelt message expressing his gratitude for the lessons she taught him and how her love and warmth continue to guide him every day.
Nargis was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 1980 and underwent treatment in New York. After returning to India, she fell ill and was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai where she passed away on May 3, 1981, just three days before the premiere of Sanjay’s debut film Rocky. Her seat was left vacant at the premiere in her memory.
Sanjay’s sister, Priya Dutt, also shared a touching video on her Instagram feed consisting of photos of their mother with the caption, “1/06/1929 – 3/05/1981.”
