In a remarkable departure from the norm, Shah Rukh Khan‘s much-anticipated film ‘Jawan’ is creating waves down South and is poised to become a monumental success, not just in Hindi-speaking regions but also in Tamil Nadu. Directed by the acclaimed Atlee, ‘Jawan’ boasts an ensemble cast that includes the likes of Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi, both South Indian cinema giants in their own right. This unique blend of Bollywood and Tamil cinema talent has sparked historic excitement in Tamil Nadu, evident from the roaring response to advance bookings.
Ruban Mathivanan of GK Cinemas, Chennai, remarked, “The advance booking is very good. It’s seen as a Tamil film here. If the content clicks, there will be no stopping ‘Jawan’ in Tamil Nadu. It could become another ‘RRR’ or ‘KGF.'”
With no significant local Tamil releases to contend with, ‘Jawan’ is poised for a triumphant run in the region. Vishek Chauhan, owner of Roopbani Cinema in Bihar, predicted, “I won’t be surprised if it does Rs. 10 crores on day 1 in Tamil.”
Even in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, ‘Jawan’ is expected to make a massive impact. Venkat Prasad, Senior Manager – Programming at Prasads, Hyderabad, shared, “The advance is tremendous. We opened the booking for very limited shows, and all 8 shows were sold out in a very short span of time. Even the shows of the weekend are fast-filling.”
With a powerful star cast and an engaging storyline, ‘Jawan’ is on the cusp of rewriting the record books, making its mark in both Bollywood and the vibrant South Indian film industry. Stay tuned for more updates on this cinematic phenomenon.
