Sonam Kapoor Talks About Embracing Post-Pregnancy Body and Why She’s in No Hurry to Get Back to Work

Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor, who became a mother to a baby boy last year, recently opened up about embracing her post-pregnancy body and why she’s not in a rush to get back to work.

In a recent interview, the actress revealed that she’s not pushing herself too hard because she’s still breastfeeding and hopes to continue that for at least another year. She explained that a mother’s body needs food, rest, and energy while breastfeeding, and she doesn’t want to compromise on that.

Sonam also shared that she doesn’t want to let anything hamper her self-confidence and is not in a rush to resume shooting for movies. She confessed that her body is not back to how it used to be and doesn’t want to come back feeling that she doesn’t fit into the tiny clothes that she needs to wear for her roles. She further added that trying to fit into clothes that she would have fit into five or ten years ago can play havoc on one’s self-confidence.

Despite being comfortable with her body and not scared of ageing or having some extra weight, Sonam admitted that she sometimes sees unflattering videos of herself on the internet, which makes her wonder if she really looks like that.

On the work front, Sonam will be seen next in the film ‘Blind’, which she shot before her pregnancy. The makers recently released the first look of the film, where she plays the role of a police officer. The film is directed by Shome Makhija.

Sonam’s candid conversation about her post-pregnancy body and taking her time to resume work is a refreshing change from the usual pressure on actresses to quickly get back into shape and resume work. Her approach is a reminder that it’s important to take care of oneself, especially during the postpartum phase, and to not let societal pressures affect one’s self-confidence.
