While basking in the success of his recent blockbuster “Gadar 2,” veteran actor Sunny Deol is facing a financial setback as his illustrious property, Sunny Villa in Mumbai’s Juhu, is slated for e-auction in September 2023. The notice, issued by Bank of Baroda, reveals that Sunny Deol owes a substantial sum of Rs. 55.99 crores in outstanding dues. The property, renowned for housing Sunny Super Sound, the actor’s office, and a revered preview theatre, is set to be auctioned virtually.
The auction notice underscores the borrower and guarantor’s financial obligation, leading to the decision to e-auction the property. While the auction process may be conducted virtually, the buyer will gain ‘symbolic possession’ after payment, with the formal transfer taking place through the District Magistrate’s approval. Despite the impending change in ownership, Sunny Deol will be permitted to continue operating his business from the premises until the transfer is finalized.
Sunny Villa’s legacy as a hub for cinematic endeavors, including post-production facilities and its famed preview theatre, adds to the significance of this development. The property’s significance within the film industry, coupled with the actor’s ongoing professional achievements, underscores the dynamic nature of Bollywood’s landscape, where triumphs and challenges often intersect.
