After making her mark in several digital releases, Vidya Balan is set to return to the big screen with the much-awaited murder mystery, Neeyat. Directed by Anu Menon, who also directed Balan in the 2020 hit film Shakuntala Devi, the movie features an impressive ensemble cast that includes Ram Kapoor, Rahul Bose, Neeraj Kabi, and Shahana Goswami among others. Neeyat is slated to release in theatres worldwide on July 7, 2023.
Produced by Abundantia Entertainment and co-produced by Prime Video, Neeyat revolves around a mysterious murder that occurs at a billionaire’s party. Balan plays the role of an unlikely detective, who investigates the murder amidst a web of secrets and lies. The film is co-written by Anu Menon, Priya Venkataraman, Advaita Kala, and Girvani Dhyani, with dialogues by Kausar Munir.
Neeyat is the second theatrical co-production for both Abundantia Entertainment and Prime Video, after the success of Shakuntala Devi. The film marks the reunion of the Shakuntala Devi team, including Abundantia Entertainment, Anu Menon, Vidya Balan, and Prime Video. The teaser poster released by the producers gives a sneak peek into the suspenseful drama that Neeyat promises to be.
