Sara Ali Khan and Vicky Kaushal‘s latest romantic comedy, Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, experienced a slight drop in its box office earnings on its first Monday. Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics, the film managed to earn approximately Rs 4.41 crore on Monday, bringing its total collection in India to Rs 26.73 crore.
Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to share the latest box office figures, stating, “#ZaraHatkeZaraBachke keeps its investors smiling on the crucial Day 4 [Mon]… The strong grip on a working day – after the weekend – indicates the wholehearted acceptance for the film… Total: ₹ 26.73 cr. #India biz.”
Adarsh also mentioned that the film has been performing exceptionally well in mass pockets and single screens, while national chains are holding steady even on weekdays. The decline in collections on Monday compared to Friday was a mere 24.59%, which is considered excellent.
Directed by Laxman Utekar, Zara Hatke Zara Bachke is set in a small town in India and revolves around a married couple’s attempt to get a fake divorce. The film marks the first collaboration between Vicky Kaushal and Sara Ali Khan, and their on-screen chemistry has captivated the audience. Despite facing competition from other releases like The Kerala Story and Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse, Zara Hatke Zara Bachke has managed to maintain its strength at the box office.
Film critic Shubhra Gupta of Indian Express noted that the film’s central conflict resonates with the Indian middle class, making it relatable to millions of viewers. She mentioned, “Zara Hatke Zara Bachke’s central conflict is one that makes it instantly relatable to millions of middle-class Indians. When it comes right down to it, young Indore-based couple Kapil (Vicky Kaushal) and Soumya (Sara Ali Khan) have some tough calls to take: will they be able to go through with it?”
As the week progresses, it will be interesting to see how Zara Hatke Zara Bachke performs at the box office and whether it continues to attract audiences with its unique storyline and the adorable chemistry between Sara Ali Khan and Vicky Kaushal.
