Raveena Tandon Joins Shivarajkumar in A for Anand

Raveena Tandon returns to Kannada cinema for MG Srinivas' A for Anand, her first on-screen pairing with Shivarajkumar. Here's what we know.

Raveena Tandon and Shivarajkumar pair up for A for Anand

Raveena Tandon is returning to Kannada cinema with A for Anand, a new film from director MG Srinivas that pairs her with Kannada superstar Shivarajkumar for the first time. The move extends a career that has long moved between Hindi films and strong roles across other Indian industries.

A first for Raveena and Shivarajkumar

The big hook is the pairing. Although Raveena has appeared in Kannada films before — most notably Upendra in 1999 and the pan-India blockbuster KGF: Chapter 2 — she has never shared screen space with Shivarajkumar. A for Anand changes that, bringing two experienced performers together under a director known for genre-savvy storytelling.

Shooting began on Wednesday at Bengaluru’s Presidency University campus. The production opened with an inaugural ceremony, and Dr Nissar Ahmed, the university’s founder-chairman, felicitated the team as Shivarajkumar and Raveena began their first scenes.

Why it matters for filmi fans

For Hindi film audiences who track stars across industries, Raveena’s return is another sign that the line between Bollywood and South cinema keeps thinning. After KGF: Chapter 2 introduced her to a new generation, this Kannada outing lets her build on that visibility rather than treat it as a one-off.

It also fits a pattern in Raveena’s career: she has consistently moved between mainstream entertainers and projects that offer her a distinct role. Her character in A for Anand remains under wraps, but the casting suggests she is once again reaching for something specific rather than simply adding another credit.

A busy period for the team

Shivarajkumar, recently seen in Bail, is balancing a busy slate that includes Jailer 2. Director MG Srinivas, known professionally as Srini, has already worked with him on the heist film Ghost and is awaiting the release of Birbal 2 on November 27.

What the production looks like

Details of Raveena’s character and the main storyline are still under wraps, but the team behind the camera is taking shape:

  • Producer: Geetha Shivarajkumar, under the Geetha Pictures banner
  • Music: Arjun Janya
  • Cinematography: Mahendra Simha
  • Editing: Deepu S Kumar

The combination of an ensemble cast, a director who favours tight genre storytelling, and a proven music composer gives A for Anand an intriguing starting point. More names, story beats and a release window should surface as production moves ahead.
