Roshan Mathew to Lead Jeo Baby’s Crime-Tinged Human
Jeo Baby's new film Human stars Roshan Mathew and hints at crime through a poster of a gun, SIM cards and a mask. A 2027 release is planned.

Roshan Mathew is set to headline Human, the upcoming film written and directed by Jeo Baby. The project was launched in Kochi on Sunday, with the title poster unveiled in the presence of the cast and crew. A 2027 release is on the calendar, but the makers are giving very little away about the story.
A first look that hints at crime
The initial material points toward a crime-driven premise. The poster places a handgun, SIM cards and a colourful mask against a dark wooden background, a combination that suggests violence and possibly concealed identities. Beyond that, there is no official synopsis, no word on the supporting cast and no confirmation of the film’s exact genre.

Roshan Mathew’s growing slate
The actor has built a reputation for moving between unconventional dramas and more mainstream narratives. He was last seen in M Padmakumar’s crime drama Uyir and is also part of Don Palathara’s upcoming Ekadesham. Human gives him another Malayalam project with a distinctive filmmaker at the centre.
A new register for Jeo Baby
Jeo Baby earned recognition with The Great Indian Kitchen, a sharp look at how domestic work falls unevenly along gender lines, and Kaathal – The Core, which explored sexuality, marriage and social expectations through a long-married couple played by Mammootty and Jyothika. Human appears to step into a different space, though the absence of a synopsis makes it hard to say how it will fit into his filmography.
Meanwhile, Jeo Baby’s most recent directorial Ebb remains awaiting release. It premiered at the 30th International Film Festival of Kerala in 2025, starring Divya Prabha and Jithin Puthenchery, and drew divided responses. A wider theatrical or digital release has not been confirmed.
Why this pairing matters
The combination is intriguing because it pairs an actor comfortable with moral ambiguity against a director usually associated with domestic realism. If the poster’s clues hold, Human could test how Jeo Baby’s interest in difficult questions translates into a crime frame.
For now, Human is less a plot announcement than a promise of a collaboration worth tracking. Further updates on casting, production and storyline are expected as the project moves toward its planned 2027 release.
