Drishyam 3 crosses ₹479.80 crore, wins Mohanlal’s praise
Mohanlal, the original Georgekutty, praises Ajay Devgn's Drishyam 3 after its ₹479.80 crore worldwide run and a brand-new Hindi ending.

When the actor who first brought Georgekutty to life gives a verdict, Drishyam fans take notice. Mohanlal, the star of the original Malayalam thrillers, has now watched Drishyam 3: The Conclusion and shared a warm message for the Hindi team.
A blessing from the original Georgekutty
In a video message, Mohanlal said he was impressed by how the team closed the story. He called it “a much-loved journey to a befitting end” and congratulated director Abhishek Pathak, producer Kumar Mangat Pathak, Ajay Devgn, and the entire cast and crew.
That praise is significant because the Hindi franchise began in 2015 as a remake of Jeethu Joseph’s Malayalam film. For a large part of the audience, Georgekutty remains one of Indian cinema’s most memorable characters, and his approval matters.
Why the Hindi ending walked its own path
The first two Hindi films stayed close to the Malayalam story, but the third does not. At FICCI Frames, Ajay Devgn explained that the third film is a “completely new script” and that the team wanted it shaped differently. He said Abhishek and the writers worked on the script for about two years, and the quality of the material convinced them this should be the conclusion.
The decision has become part of the fan conversation. Several viewers have said the Hindi conclusion works better for them than the Malayalam third film, which released earlier this year.
The box office is backing the decision
The film released on October 2, 2026, and has reportedly earned over ₹479.80 crore worldwide, while its India gross has crossed ₹370.80 crore. That makes the new script not just a creative risk but a commercial success.
- Ajay Devgn returns as Vijay Salgaonkar, the family man known for outsmarting the police.
- Tabu is back as Meera Deshmukh, with Shriya Saran as Nandini.
- Jaideep Ahlawat plays SP Rajveer Singh Tomar, whose face-offs with Vijay have drawn strong praise.
What fans can take away
The franchise has always leaned on a simple tension: a family man who will do whatever it takes to protect his own, against a police force determined to break him. Drishyam 3: The Conclusion adds a new adversary in Rajveer Singh Tomar and lets the face-off drive the final stretch. That is different from the Malayalam version, and social media reaction suggests the change has landed with audiences.
The cast also includes Rajat Kapoor, Prakash Raj, Kamlesh Sawant, Ishita Dutta and Mrunal Jadhav. For Hindi film fans, Mohanlal’s nod is a sign that a conclusion built on a new script can still respect the original’s spirit. With strong box office legs and word of mouth around Ahlawat’s addition, the Salgaonkar chapter is closing on a confident note.
