Ramayana pre-sales hit Rs 5.44 crore in 24 hours
Ramayana: The Rise of a Legend opens its advance window with Rs 5.44 crore in a day, led by Delhi-NCR, with Mumbai recliners at Rs 2,770.

Advance ticket counters for Ramayana: The Rise of a Legend opened this week, and the first 24 hours of sales already read like a big-ticket Diwali release. As of 2 pm on Wednesday, the Nitesh Tiwari epic had pulled in Rs 5.44 crore in advance bookings across India, with almost 92,000 tickets sold in 104 cities, according to Sacnilk figures cited by India Today. Strip out block bookings, and the all-India figure still stands at a healthy Rs 3.61 crore.
Where the early money is coming from
Delhi-NCR is setting the pace. It contributed Rs 1.52 crore from 19,913 tickets, ahead of Mumbai’s Rs 1.10 crore from about 16,000 tickets. Pune, Kolkata and Bengaluru are also adding to the tally.
- Delhi-NCR: Rs 1.52 crore from 19,913 tickets
- Mumbai: Rs 1.10 crore from about 16,000 tickets
- Hindi version: Rs 5.15 crore of the total, with Kannada at Rs 27.95 lakh and Telugu at Rs 48,700
The language split matters because the Hindi release is doing the heavy lifting so far. That suggests the film is pulling in the core Hindi audience first, with the dubbed versions likely to pick up as the release date nears.
Why the Mumbai ticket price is a talking point
Some of the most expensive seats are not exactly casual. At PVR ICON: Phoenix Palladium in Mumbai’s Lower Parel, select IMAX 3D shows on November 5 and 6 list recliner seats at Rs 2,770. The city has shows starting as early as 6.45 am and running as late as 11.45 pm, so fans are being offered the full spectacle timetable.
This is a classic event-film release pattern: premium formats and premium pricing for an epic, paired with a mass-market Hindi push. The Rs 2,770 ticket is not the average price — most viewers will pay far less — but it signals that the producers are betting on audiences who want the best seat for a film of this scale.
What’s behind the rollout
Bookings opened on Tuesday, more than two weeks before the November 5 release. The initial rollout was slow, reportedly because of a distribution-share disagreement between Dharma Productions and exhibitors, before the makers announced that sales were open nationwide.
Around the same time, the team dropped Rise of Asura, a video built around Yash as Ravana, set to the ‘Ravana Tandav’ beat. The Hindi version features vocals by Vishal Dadlani and lyrics by Kumar Vishwas. It’s the kind of high-energy asset that shifts attention back to the film after a quiet start.
If you’re planning to book
With a November 5 release in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam — plus IMAX — the practical advice is simple: decide your format early, and don’t assume the best seats will wait for you across the Diwali weekend. Premium shows are already priced at a meaningful premium in Mumbai, but standard shows and regional formats give a wider spread of options.
The film’s story is expected to follow the start of Rama’s journey, with a cast that includes Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman. The second part, Ramayana: Part Two, is slated for Diwali 2027, and Ranbir has said it was already about 50 per cent shot earlier this year, which points to a shorter wait for the continuation.
