South OTT: 5 New Titles Land This Week on Streaming
Five Malayalam and Tamil films hit Netflix, ManoramaMAX, Sun NXT, Saina Play and SonyLIV this week; Dorothy is reportedly next.

South Indian cinema is taking over the streaming queue in mid-October. Five Malayalam and Tamil titles arrive across Netflix, ManoramaMAX, Sun NXT, Saina Play and SonyLIV between October 15 and 16, and a sixth is reportedly close behind.
The October 15 openers: a medical comedy and a Rameswaram drama
ManoramaMAX premieres It’s a Medical Miracle on October 15. Directed by Shyamin Gireesh, the Malayalam supernatural comedy stars Sangeeth Prathap, Sharaf U Dheen and Akhila Bhargavan, with the story, screenplay and dialogues credited to Nileen Sandra. Its theatrical run began only on September 18, so the film is making a particularly quick jump to digital.
Netflix counters with Enna Vilai, also on October 15. Directed by Sajeev Pazhoor, the Tamil social drama features Karunas, Nimisha Sajayan, Vijayalakshmi Veeramani, Shashaa Shivakumar, Kamalesh Jagan, Heesha, Chethan Cheenu and Mohan Raman. Set in Rameswaram, it follows Thavasi Muthu, a family man who collects coins that temple visitors toss into the sea and hopes to give his children a better life through education. That plan shifts when he finds a valuable gold pendant underwater.
Three more premieres on October 16
- Oru Anweshanathinte Thudakkam, Sun NXT: M. A. Nishad directs this Malayalam crime thriller led by Shine Tom Chacko and Vani Viswanath. It released in cinemas on November 8, 2024, and Sun NXT announced the digital premiere in an October 10 social post.
- Adinaasam Vellapokkam, Saina Play: A. J. Varghese directs this comedy thriller starring Shine Tom Chacko and Baiju Santhosh. A group of students meets a gangster and their lives take an unexpected turn. The film opened in December 2025 with little attention and could find a wider audience on streaming.
- DC, SonyLIV: Arun Matheswaran directs this Tamil romantic action film. Devadas leads a small group by his own moral code, defends a farmer’s family and then becomes a target. His relationship with Parvathy and her fate sharpen his drive for revenge. The theatrical release earned love, particularly for Anirudh’s soundtrack.
Dorothy is still a week away
Karthik Subbaraj’s tenth film Dorothy is reportedly set for Netflix on October 23. It opened in theatres on September 25. Reports indicate Netflix is the post-theatrical digital partner, with the deal apparently signposted in the opening credits. For now, that one stays on the watchlist rather than the weekend plan.
How to pick your watchlist
The biggest planning task is simple: no single subscription carries all five premieres. If you want light comedy, start with It’s a Medical Miracle. If you prefer emotional social drama, head to Enna Vilai. For a crime investigation, queue Oru Anweshanathinte Thudakkam. For suspense with a comic edge, try Adinaasam Vellapokkam. For romance, action and music, DC is the pick.
Beyond the titles, this week shows how varied South cinema’s OTT windows have become. One film arrives less than a month after its theatrical release, while another is streaming almost two years after its first big-screen outing. That range is why release-date trackers and platform announcements now matter as much to fans as the films themselves.
