Where the day 9 money came from
Across 10,484 shows, Tamil screenings led with Rs 9.35 crore from 4,885 shows, making up about 64.5% of the day’s domestic net earnings. Telugu contributed Rs 3.00 crore from 1,787 shows, Hindi Rs 1.75 crore from 3,624 shows, and Kannada Rs 40 lakh from 188 shows. That works out to an average of Rs 13,831 per show.
Cumulatively, the film’s India net stands at Rs 348.85 crore, with domestic gross at Rs 408.55 crore. Overseas added Rs 5.00 crore on Friday, lifting the international gross total to Rs 219.50 crore; combined with domestic gross, the worldwide total touched Rs 628.05 crore.
Occupancy shows where the energy is
The Tamil version recorded 34.77% overall occupancy. Night shows were the strongest at 50.77%, followed by evening at 38.31%. The Telugu version logged 27.35% overall occupancy, while Hindi screenings managed 17.07%. Friday footfalls reached 1,012,787, taking cumulative attendance to 23,065,654.
Why the hold matters
For a big sequel with Rajinikanth, Vidya Balan, Mohanlal, S.J. Suryah, Ramya Krishnan and a Hrithik Roshan cameo, the opening wave was always likely to be front-loaded. The real test is whether weekday and second-weekend audiences keep coming. The plot—Tiger Muthuvel Pandian going undercover as a driver to break an idol-smuggling network—has the elements for repeat viewing, but the Hindi belt remains the soft spot.
