Gurdeep Mehndi thanks Mika Singh amid Daler performance row

Gurdeep Mehndi says the family is dealing with it together and thanks Mika Singh for backing Daler Mehndi after the Uttarakhand stage row.

Gurdeep thanks Mika Singh as Daler row stays public

Daler Mehndi’s family is speaking out after a minister’s on-stage comment turned a performance in Uttarakhand into a public row. His son, singer Gurdeep Mehndi, has thanked Mika Singh and other industry voices for standing by the veteran performer, while keeping the family’s message simple: they are facing it together.

What Gurdeep said about his father

In a video shared on his social media account on Saturday, Gurdeep said he was outside India when the controversy broke. After returning, he asked his father how he was doing. Daler, he said, replied in his usual cheerful way with ‘first class’ — a phrase that has since become a talking point.

Gurdeep admitted the pressure is real. ‘Obviously, we are stressed, and we as a family together are dealing with it,’ he said. He thanked the film industry and singled out ‘my chacha ji, Mika Singh,’ before asking fans to keep supporting the family. He signed off with Daler’s familiar words: ‘Rab Rakka.’

Mika Singh turns support into a call for an apology

Mika has been one of Daler’s most visible defenders. In a video, he questioned the suggestion that Daler could not stand or had been drinking. Artists, Mika argued, often commit to a show and still turn up with a 104-degree fever because the commitment matters.

Mika also went further. On September 24, he shared a photograph with Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Dhami and said the chief minister had called him personally. His request: ask state minister Subodh Uniyal to release a video clarifying his comment and apologising to Daler. The controversy began when Uniyal reportedly embarrassed the singer on stage by accusing him of being drunk.

‘I believe misunderstandings can happen, but they can also be resolved gracefully,’ Mika wrote, adding that he has faith in Dhami’s leadership.

Who has backed Daler

  • Mika Singh has publicly defended Daler and sought an apology from minister Subodh Uniyal.
  • Kapil Sharma and Sudesh Lehri have also voiced support for the singer.
  • Gurdeep Mehndi has reassured fans about Daler’s health, calling him ‘first class, fantastic, super hit’.

Why this matters for fans

A stage allegation travels faster than any clarification, and for a veteran live entertainer the stakes are personal and professional. The family’s response, led by Gurdeep, is not combative. It is an attempt to keep attention on Daler’s wellbeing and dignity while the demand for a public correction plays out.

What happens next

The immediate ask is a public apology. Mika has proposed a direct route: a simple video from Uniyal clarifying the comment. Whether that happens will likely decide how quickly the row settles. In the meantime, Gurdeep is asking fans to continue showing love — a request that keeps the focus on the family rather than the controversy.
