Gautam Ghattamaneni Gives Nani’s The Paradise 1 Star

Mahesh Babu's son Gautam Ghattamaneni has rated Nani's The Paradise one star on Letterboxd, praising only the cinematography and emotional scenes.

The Paradise gets 1 star from Mahesh Babu's son

Mahesh Babu’s son Gautam Ghattamaneni has made his verdict on Nani’s The Paradise impossible to miss. The star kid gave the Srikanth Odela action drama a single star on Letterboxd, describing the film as “very disappointing” and its editing as “atrocious.”

That blunt take is not an outlier. It is the latest entry in a public film diary that has turned Gautam into one of Tollywood’s most candid celebrity reviewers.

A one-star verdict, with two compliments

Gautam’s review was short but sharply split. He found two elements worth praising: the cinematography and the acting in emotional scenes. Beyond that, he wrote that there was little else he liked.

“I liked the cinematography and the acting in emotional scenes. I liked nothing else. Very disappointing. Also, the editing was just atrocious.”

The quote may be blunt, but it is consistent with how Gautam uses Letterboxd. His ratings have become a talking point because they do not soften for star power or family ties.

The film diary that makes headlines

Gautam’s Letterboxd page has had an eventful life online. The attention around his ratings grew intense enough that he briefly removed the link from his Instagram bio, only to restore it later with a self-aware note. The profile now carries a line that reads, “Welcome to this apparently national news worthy page. I will try to live up to that.”

His recent scores tell the story:

  • The Paradise: one star
  • Yash’s Toxic: half a star
  • Some of Mahesh Babu’s films: two stars

That sense of humour matters. It turns what could be a routine celebrity opinion into a small piece of filmi theatre, with fans waiting to see whose project gets a high score next.

What The Paradise is about

For context, The Paradise is set in the 1980s and follows the Savaari tribe as its members fight for citizenship and recognition. Nani plays Jadal, the son of the tribe’s leader Sammakka, played by Sonali Kulkarni. The fight brings them up against feudal overlord Shikanja Malik, played by Mohan Babu, and his son Vikram Malik, played by Raghav Juyal. Kayadu Lohar also features.

The film has received a mixed response from audiences and critics, with much of the criticism aimed at the writing and execution. Gautam’s one-star rating is therefore not an isolated complaint, even if his phrasing is sharper than most. The film is currently streaming on Netflix, so fans can judge the edit for themselves.

Why this matters for filmi fans

A star kid’s Letterboxd page would usually be a curiosity. Gautam’s becomes news because he reviews with the same candour a fan might use in a group chat, not the diplomacy expected from an industry insider. That matters at a time when word-of-mouth shapes a film’s streaming life quickly.

For The Paradise, the one-star rating adds a high-profile data point to the conversation — one that praises the visuals and emotional performances but takes issue with the film’s edit. The verdict may be personal, but it will now travel far beyond his profile.
