Udta Teer earns Rs 7.25 crore on Day 2, jumps 76.8%
Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan's spy comedy jumps 76.8% on Saturday to Rs 7.25 crore nett; India total stands at Rs 11.35 crore.

Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan’s spy comedy Udta Teer found its footing on its second day at the box office, collecting Rs 7.25 crore nett in India on Saturday. That is a 76.8% rise from Friday’s Rs 4.10 crore opening, and a sign that word of mouth and weekend walk-ins are beginning to work in the film’s favour.
A Saturday surge, city by city
According to trade tracker Sacnilk, the film played across 6,164 shows on Saturday, averaging Rs 11,762 per show. Footfalls jumped from nearly 1,88,000 on Friday to 3,17,835 on day two.
The Hindi 2D version recorded 29.70% overall occupancy. Mornings started quiet at 8.54%, but the graph climbed through the afternoon at 27.62% and evening at 33%, before peaking at 42.69% for night shows.
Chennai was the standout with 90.3% occupancy. Mumbai recorded 30.8% across 536 shows, with night shows touching 50%, while the National Capital Region had the most screenings at 950 shows and 21.5% occupancy. Ahmedabad stood at 16.5%.
That spread tells a familiar story: Chennai is over-performing, Mumbai is building in night shows, and the National Capital Region has the widest footprint even if its percentage looks softer.
Where the numbers stand
- India nett after two days: Rs 11.35 crore
- India gross: Rs 13.53 crore
- Overseas gross total: Rs 2.75 crore
- Worldwide gross: Rs 16.28 crore
The Saturday push came after a modest first day. Friday opened at Rs 4.10 crore nett with 15.65% Hindi 2D occupancy. That made it the eighth-highest opening of Khurrana’s career, behind titles such as Dream Girl 2 (Rs 10.69 crore), Bala (Rs 10.15 crore) and Dream Girl (Rs 10.05 crore). His career-best opener remains 2025’s Thamma at Rs 24 crore nett.
Why the Saturday bounce matters
The film’s premise, a Pakistani spy who loses his memory and begins to believe he is an Indian counter-terrorism officer, depends on comedy landing with family audiences. A slow Friday followed by a stronger Saturday suggests audiences are arriving late, which is common for star-led Hindi films, but it also means the film needs a big Sunday to build a safe weekend total.
"While Udta Teer revolves around national security, its USP is its comedy," the India Today review noted, praising the film’s quirky lyrics, Bollywood references and supporting cast.
Directed by Aakash Kaushik and backed by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Guneet Monga’s Sikhya Entertainment, the film also stars Rahul Bose, Ram Kapoor and Gulshan Grover. It will now face competition from Tu Hai Meri Kiran, Pehla Pyaar Doosri Baar, Doosra and Little Thomas through the weekend.
Sunday will decide the weekend
For Total Filmi readers, the one number to watch on Monday morning is whether Sunday’s collection lands above Saturday’s Rs 7.25 crore. If it does, Udta Teer gets the kind of upward curve that keeps screens through the week. If not, its weekday holds will decide whether the modest opening turns into a respectable run.
