Scene was first planned with Fahadh Faasil, says Jithu Madhavan
Jithu Madhavan reveals Scene was first developed with Fahadh Faasil and Nazriya Nazim before Suriya took over, and Naslen plays the antagonist.

Scene, Suriya’s upcoming crime thriller, was not always a Suriya film. Director Jithu Madhavan has revealed that the project was first developed as a Malayalam film with Fahadh Faasil and Nazriya Nazim in the lead roles.
Speaking to Galatta Plus, the Aavesham director said the early conversations were warm: he discussed the story with Fahadh, and the actor liked it. It is a small detail, but one that reframes the film’s journey for fans.
From a Fahadh-Nazriya pairing to Suriya
At the idea stage, Jithu Madhavan pictured the real-life couple together on screen. Fahadh Faasil responded positively, and the first discussions were underway.
Then the director made a switch. He told Fahadh he wanted to write Scene for Suriya instead, and later narrated the script to the Tamil star. Suriya liked the story and agreed to lead.
Nazriya remains in the final cast in a key role, joined by Naslen. That means at least part of the original instinct stayed alive, even after the lead changed.
Why Naslen plays the antagonist
The director also explained his choice of Naslen for the antagonist’s part. He wanted someone who could appear innocent while carrying out disturbing actions, and a fresh face would sharpen that contrast.
For audiences, that casting note hints at the tone: the villain may not look like a villain, which can make the film’s tension feel closer and more unsettling.
Scene’s Diwali window
- Film: Scene
- Director: Jithu Madhavan
- Lead: Suriya
- Key cast: Nazriya Nazim, Naslen
- Release date: November 6, 2026, for Diwali
- Advance sales: Open in Australia; other international markets to follow
The November 6 date makes Scene part of a crowded, high-stakes holiday window. For fans who follow both Tamil and Malayalam cinema, the project is a neat example of how a story can shift industries during development without losing its core appeal.
If you are planning a festive film outing, watch your local booking platforms. Australia is already selling tickets, and other markets are expected to open in the coming days. That early movement suggests the release campaign is now shifting from announcements to seats in theatres.
