Sai Pallavi’s First Sita Promo Wins Over Ramayana Fans

The first Sita character promo from Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana has turned early casting doubts into warm praise, with A.R. Rahman's score setting the tone.

Sai Pallavi's first Sita promo wins over Ramayana fans

The first character promo from Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana has done something a teaser rarely manages: it has shifted the online conversation around its most debated casting. After months of chatter about whether Sai Pallavi was the right actor to play Sita, the newly released glimpse has viewers reaching for a very different set of words — “divine,” “calm” and “genuine.”

A promo built around presence, not plot

Rather than lay out the film’s larger narrative, the promo keeps its frame tight on Sita, the princess of Mithila. Sai Pallavi appears in a composed, graceful register, giving audiences an early feel for her interpretation before the first part arrives in cinemas on November 5.

The makers underlined the character’s place in the story with a short note: “Daughter of the Earth, princess of Mithila. Bound by love, guided by Dharma.” It is an origin-led introduction, and it sets up exactly the qualities fans are now praising.

From casting question to celebration

Before this promo, Sai Pallavi’s casting was not universally accepted. Some viewers questioned whether she could carry an icon as layered as Sita. The latest footage has flipped much of that. On X, several reactions have focused on her minimal makeup and natural screen presence. One fan wrote that she “made the role of Sita look so genuine and relatable,” while another said the actor has “the perfect balance of gentleness and inner strength.”

That balance is the real story here. Sita is often reduced to a single note — devotional, serene, wronged. What viewers are responding to is the suggestion of an inner spine beneath the stillness, and that is a promising sign for a two-part adaptation that will need more than visual scale.

The sound of Sita

The promo’s mood is also being carried by its music. Titled “Sita’s Aspiration,” the composition comes from A.R. Rahman, with vocals by Rakshita Suresh. It runs beneath the visuals and gives the character beat an emotional shape, which is often what turns a reveal like this into a talking point.

Why this reveal matters

For a two-part film built on familiar mythology, the risk is never scale — it is whether audiences connect with the characters on their own terms. By releasing a Sita-first promo, the makers have given the most scrutinized casting a chance to answer its critics before the trailers start selling the war and the spectacle. That is a confident move, and the early response suggests it is working.

The ensemble around her

Tiwari’s Ramayana has one of the larger casts of the season:

  • Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama
  • Sai Pallavi as Sita
  • Yash as Ravana
  • Ravie Dubey as Lakshman
  • Supporting names include Arun Govil, Lara Dutta, Sheeba Chadha, Shobhana, Rakul Preet Singh, Vivek Oberoi, Sunny Deol and Anupam Kher

For Hindi film fans, the project matters because the epic retelling has stacked a large ensemble and split its story into two parts — which raises the stakes for every piece of casting. A character promo that lands with this much warmth, this close to release, is the kind of momentum a two-part film needs before the first installment opens.
