Ravi Basrur reunites with Prashanth Neel for Jr NTR’s Dragon
Prashanth Neel confirms Ravi Basrur will score Dragon, returning after KGF and Salaar. The Jr NTR action drama now moves to June 11, 2027.

Fans who felt the ground shake during KGF and Salaar will know exactly why this matters. Director Prashanth Neel has confirmed that music director Ravi Basrur will score Dragon, his upcoming action drama built around Jr NTR.
The update arrived in the simplest way: a fan asked who would compose Dragon‘s music, and Neel replied, “The one and only Ravi Basrur sir.” That one line, shared through a report by IANS, is enough to set expectations for the film’s sound.
Why the reunion matters
Basrur is not just a composer in Neel’s world. He is the architect of the heavy, percussive, chant-driven sound that made KGF a pan-India phenomenon and gave Salaar its brooding, industrial scale. Bringing him back for Dragon signals that Neel wants the same immersive, larger-than-life sonic identity for Jr NTR’s character.
For Hindi film fans who came to Neel through dubbed versions, this partnership has been the consistent thread. The voice, the texture and the intervals are as much part of the storytelling as the visuals.
For the audience, a composer confirmation often matters less than a star announcement. With Neel, it is a promise about tone: KGF and Salaar are remembered as much for their sound as their action. Basrur’s return tells fans Dragon will be cut from the same cloth.
What the first glimpse revealed
The title was announced in May, and a glimpse video arrived on Jr NTR’s birthday to introduce him as Dragon. The clip sets up an opium-war story with two rival powers: the Afghan Trading Company and the Golden Triangle. The British enter India to control the opium trade, and after they leave, a new conflict takes shape.
These details from the glimpse give the scale:
- Jr NTR as Luger, the assassin-in-chief of the Afghan Trading Company, introduced as Dragon.
- Anil Kapoor as Raghuveer Rathod, chief of the Narcotics Bureau.
- Biju Menon as Jaleel Rahman, the Afghanistan logistics head.
Jr NTR’s Luger introduces himself with a threat that sets the tone: “Don’t even by mistake appear in my dreams!”
The long wait has a purpose
Dragon was originally scheduled for June 25, 2026. The makers have now pushed it to June 11, 2027. For a project this size, the extra time may be exactly what Basrur and Neel need to build a score that can travel across the film’s multi-language release.
Until then, the best preparation is to revisit the KGF and Salaar albums. They remain the clearest preview of what Dragon might sound like: chants, distorted percussion and a main character theme designed to fill a big screen.
