Akshay Kumar backs Ganesh Acharya’s Dust To Stardust
The choreographer-turned-director's trailer is here, with Akshay Kumar calling it Acharya's own story. The film opens in cinemas on December 11.

Ganesh Acharya has spent years making Bollywood move. Now he wants to make audiences feel. The choreographer has unveiled the trailer for his first film as director, Ganesh Dust To Stardust, and Akshay Kumar is among its loudest champions.
The film follows an underdog’s climb from humble beginnings toward a bigger life, with dance, family responsibilities and the price of chasing a dream pushing the story forward. It stars Shivanshu Soni, Alok Shaw, Sukanya Kalan and Sakshi Pawaskar, and it opens in cinemas on December 11, 2026.
Akshay Kumar’s full-circle moment
Akshay Kumar shared the trailer with a memory attached. He and Acharya go back a long way: “I still remember that, as a choreographer, his very first song was with me.” For the actor, the film’s small-to-big arc is more than a plot. “And the most special thing is that this is his own story,” he said.
That blessing matters. Acharya has choreographed some of Hindi cinema’s most memorable dance numbers, and a public push from Akshay Kumar helps a debut film reach fans who might otherwise treat it as a small release.
A family-backed passion project
The film is produced by Acharya’s daughter Soundarya Acharya under V2S Production & Entertainment. She described the project as being built on the belief that dreams are worth pursuing even when the odds look overwhelming, and spoke about watching her father bring the story to life.
Acharya himself frames the film around a simple idea: everyone can dream, but dreams need work, sacrifice and forward movement. That sentiment sits in the trailer’s struggle-and-ambition beats.

What to watch for in the trailer
The trailer leans on familiar beats: a dreamer with responsibilities, a stage that feels far away, and dance used as release and language. But the detail that makes the rollout pop is the off-screen bond. Akshay Kumar’s testimony turns the project into a story about friendship and long careers as much as about a debut.
For audiences, that also means the film arrives with an emotional hook beyond its cast. Fans of Acharya’s choreography can judge whether his storytelling has the same musicality; newcomers can walk in for a straightforward big-screen drama.
