Mirzapur month, Drishyam 3 Rs 176.50 cr: Ali Fazal’s cinema plea
Ali Fazal thanked fans as Mirzapur: The Movie completed a month in theatres, then asked them to catch Drishyam 3 after its Rs 176.50 crore three-day opening.

Ali Fazal is closing the first month of Mirzapur: The Movie with gratitude, and an unusual request. He wants his fans to go watch a different film.
A month of Mirzapur on the big screen
Released on September 4, Mirzapur: The Movie brought Prime Video’s crime franchise to cinemas with Ali Fazal returning as Guddu Pandit and Pankaj Tripathi in the ensemble. A month later, the film is still running in select theatres and sits as the fourth-highest grossing Hindi film of 2026.
Fazal marked the milestone on Instagram, writing, “My film completes a month today in theatres. We did something right.. I like to think. Thank you again for all the love.”
Then he pointed fans to Drishyam 3
Instead of keeping the spotlight on Mirzapur, Fazal asked audiences to keep showing up for the theatrical experience and name-checked Drishyam 3: The Conclusion and other recent releases. It is a generous, category-first move at a time when a strong slate is pulling fans back to cinemas.
His push lines up with a strong start for the Ajay Devgn-led thriller:
- Drishyam 3 released on October 2 and earned Rs 176.50 crore India net in three days.
- Worldwide gross for the film reached Rs 272.80 crore in the same window.
- Mirzapur: The Movie is still in select theatres after a month and is the fourth-biggest Hindi release of 2026.
From streaming hit to theatrical franchise
Mirzapur‘s move from Prime Video to a theatrical film was a test of whether streaming success could translate into ticket sales. Its one-month run and top-four placement among Hindi films this year suggest the bet worked. That may matter beyond this title: studios are watching closely as they decide which web-born properties deserve big-screen outings.
The Drishyam 3 factor
Drishyam 3 continues the story of Vijay Salgaonkar, with Ajay Devgn, Shriya Saran, Tabu and Ishita Dutta returning, and Prakash Raj and Jaideep Ahlawat joining in new roles. The franchise has long been a theatrical trust builder for family audiences, and its three-day numbers reinforce why Fazal picked it for his follow-this message.
Why the cross-franchise shout-out matters
Star endorsements usually end at a film’s opening weekend. A leading man using his own milestone to redirect attention to a competing franchise is rare, but it makes sense for exhibition. Theatres need more than one hit to keep audiences in the habit of booking tickets, and Fazal is treating Drishyam 3 as proof that the habit is back.
For fans, the message is simple: both films are part of the same big-screen ecosystem. Watching one in a cinema, then the next, is the strongest vote for more theatrical releases from the franchises they already love.
