Anupam Kher reunites with Robert De Niro over a US lunch

Anupam Kher’s latest trip to the United States came with a very filmi stopover: lunch at Robert De Niro’s home. The veteran Bollywood actor posted photos and clips of the afternoon on social media, with De Niro’s partner Tiffany Chen joining in. Kher said the meet-up was one of the most special highlights of his US-Canada visit, during which he is travelling with his play Jaane Pehchaane Anjane.

In his note, Kher said no trip to America would be complete without seeing his “dearest friend” and the “world’s FINEST actor.” The lunch included warm conversation and one small but meaningful gift: a cap from De Niro.

A friendship that began on Silver Linings Playbook

The two actors have real history. They first worked together on the 2012 Hollywood film Silver Linings Playbook, directed by David O Russell. The film went on to receive Oscar nominations, and what began as a professional relationship gradually became a personal one.
