Gunmaaster G9 Makers Tighten Stunt Safety After SUV Near-Miss
An SUV came loose during the Gunmaaster G9 Bengaluru shoot, but no one was hurt; makers are now reinforcing safety checks before its November 27 release.

Emraan Hashmi’s upcoming action thriller Gunmaaster G9 is getting a safety reset after a climax stunt in Bengaluru went wrong on October 13. An SUV broke loose from its rigging and came dangerously close to a passing van, leaving the actor and everyone else in the frame unhurt but prompting an immediate review of how the film stages action.
What happened on set
The scare took place while Hashmi was filming a sequence built around an SUV and a fleet of cars. A video that later appeared online showed crew members gathered around the stunt setup as a countdown was called. Moments later, the vehicle came close to the passing van. No one in the frame was injured, but the near-miss made the risks of large-scale practical action impossible to ignore.
The near-miss also arrives at a time when Hindi action films are leaning harder into practical stunts to deliver scale on the big screen. A runaway vehicle is exactly the kind of incident that can make a production recalibrate quickly. Here, the response was immediate: the makers are treating October 13 as a warning rather than a lucky escape.
What the makers are changing
Director Aditya Datt, producer Deepak Mukut and the action team have reviewed the arrangements and are reinforcing checks before any similar stunt is attempted. The new focus includes:
- checking all securing points on stunt vehicles,
- aligning the action team and crew on movement, positioning and clearance zones, and
- assessing what extra precautions are needed before attempting complex setups.
Mukut told Mid-Day that the responsibility of delivering large-scale action must go hand in hand with protecting everyone working on the film. ‘Action cinema demands a certain physicality and scale, and we want to bring that experience to the big screen,’ he said. ‘But our responsibility towards the people working on the film is equally important.’
Why it matters for fans
For audiences, Gunmaaster G9 promises the kind of large-scale action that makes theatrical viewing worth it. That same scale depends on precise off-screen work. The producer’s line is telling: ‘realism on screen should never mean taking safety lightly.’ The team says it now double-checks every arrangement, ‘from loose wires to all moving parts of a stunt’, before filming action.
Stunt safety is not just a production issue; it shapes how much practical action studios are willing to attempt. When a near-miss is handled transparently and followed by tighter checks, fans can still get their adrenaline rush without wondering whether the people making it took unnecessary risks.
What happens next
Gunmaaster G9, which also stars Genelia Deshmukh, is still scheduled to open in theatres on November 27. The safety review does not appear to have pushed the date back; instead, it is meant to ensure the remaining action can be shot without another close call.
