Kajol celebrates Durga Puja with family: Today was all about Maa
Kajol, Tanuja, Tanishaa and Ayan Mukerji gathered in Mumbai to unveil a Durga idol and keep a family ritual alive after recent losses.

Kajol gave fans a warm, front-row look at the Mukerji family’s Durga Puja in Mumbai on October 15. The photographs and video she shared on Instagram bring together her mother Tanuja, sister Tanishaa Mukerji, cousin Ayan Mukerji and other relatives, all gathered for the opening of the festivities.
This is not a glossy promotional drop. It is a family album made public: a grand idol of Goddess Durga unveiled before the household, Kajol dancing as petals fall, and the women of the family in distinctly different festive looks.
A gold-and-red start to the Puja
Kajol chose a gold dual-tone fusion saree with a red blouse, keeping her hair open and her makeup minimal. Tanishaa went with a blue printed saree. One still shows Kajol pressing a kiss to Tanuja’s head as the three generations pose together, a small moment that anchors the whole post.
Kajol’s caption has become the emotional headline of the post. As she wrote on Instagram:
Today was all about #Maa in all her forms .. as a mother, as a daughter, as a protector and as a Goddess!
She ended the note with the Durga Puja cry and a nod to the festive season now beginning.
The Mukerji Puja is a family continuity
The Mukerji family’s Durga Puja has been a fixture of the festive season for years, and for fans it now comes with a layer of emotion. Deb Mukherjee died in March 2025, and Krishna Mukerji passed away in September 2026; both were closely associated with the family’s Puja. By arriving at the ceremony and sharing it publicly, Kajol, Ayan and the rest of the family are keeping the tradition going rather than letting grief pause it.
That continuity is what gives the post its quiet weight. Ayan Mukerji and Sharbani Mukerji appear in the frames too, but the focus stays on the ritual itself: the idol reveal, the flowers and the prayers. The celebration is both a festival and a remembrance.

With release and promotional details still awaited, the Durga Puja post is likely to be one of several public appearances as the film season picks up.
