Kangana Taunts Jaya Bachchan Over Reporter Mic Row
Kangana Ranaut mocks Jaya Bachchan's 'nahi bataungi' reply to a reporter as the viral mic moment reignites their Bollywood political feud.

One reporter’s microphone became the latest flashpoint in the long-running cold war between Kangana Ranaut and Jaya Bachchan. The clip, from the INDIA Bloc protest over the Election Commission, went viral on 7 October – and Kangana quickly turned Jaya’s terse answer into a jab.
When a journalist asked Jaya about a placard being carried by Trinamool Congress MP Derek O’Brien, she first said, ‘Don’t twist the matter.’ Pressed on what the matter was, she gave a two-word reply: ‘Nahi bataungi’ (I won’t tell).
Kangana’s counter
Kangana Ranaut, a BJP MP who has often criticised Opposition leaders, shared the video on Instagram Stories. In her caption she mocked the refusal, asking why someone would sit on a dharna to make a point in front of the world and then refuse to say what the point was. She ended with Jaya’s own words, ‘nahi bataungi’, followed by laughing emojis.
What Jaya said on the ground
Around the same exchange, Jaya told India Today‘s Mausami Singh that leaders would continue the protest ‘jab tak pair chal sakta hai’ (as long as their legs can carry them). Asked if this was a fight to save democracy and whether the Election Commission was being discriminatory, she answered, ‘Bilkul. Bilkul’ (Absolutely).
Why the clip cuts through
The exchange is one small moment in a larger Opposition standoff in Delhi. Demonstrators are demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Delhi Police detained Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, along with several MPs, and took them to Kingsway Camp Police Station.
For Bollywood fans, what makes this more than a political story is the consistent dynamic between the two actors.
- Jaya is part of the INDIA Bloc protest over the Election Commission’s functioning.
- Kangana routinely critiques Opposition leaders, and has spoken against Jaya earlier.
- A reporter’s question about a placard was met with ‘Nahi bataungi’, and the clip spread fast.
A feud that writes itself
Kangana and Jaya rarely share screen space now, but they keep finding each other through headlines. Jaya’s short replies, and Kangana’s habit of amplifying them, turn a brief media exchange into a broader fight over who gets to define the moment. Whether supporters read it as composure or as a missed chance to explain a protest, the answer has already become social media shorthand.
The moment also shows how a three-second reply can become a longer story than the policy question that triggered it. In this case, the placard question faded into the background, and the feud between two outspoken Bollywood figures became the takeaway.
